We made the executive decision to pay an extra dollar to be in first class for the overnight train this time, which was probably the best decision we made all trip! We were also overjoyed to finally be in the South of Vietnam, where it was back to the hot weather we've become so used to in Singapore. We got to Nha Trang early in the morning and had two full days to spend lounging around on the beach and getting tan. I had the best sushi both days for lunch while I was there too! There were also people walking all along the beaches trying to sell food and other things to the vacationers on the beach, but as you can see below, they keep themselves wrapped head to toe in clothing to prevent the sun from tanning them. In Southeast Asia it's actually much more preferred to have fair skin, so while westerners are lathering on their tanning oil, Asians are using whitening lotion and face cream to keep themselves as fair as possible.
Our hostel had a rooftop bar that served free beer for an hour each night as well that was super cool because it gives you the chance to get to know some really cool people who are also backpacking around Southeast Asia. We met a girl there who had just quit her job and broke up with her fiancé before taking off to backpack the world and find herself. Both Hannah and my mouth were wide open as she told us about her decision to take off from her old life and start over. She honestly inspired me. So many people complain about their lives for years and never make a change. She's lucky to have the confidence to make such a huge change in her life. It makes you realize it's never too late to search for the life you want. Life's too short to settle!
