Had an absolute Bal(i)

Had the chance to scoot over to Bali last weekend for 4 days! It was absolutely beautiful!! The first day we rode scooters to a waterfall and climbed up onto it! The next day we woke up at 1:30am to climb up an active volcano to watch the sunrise! (It's actually the same volcano that was on the news that killed 12 locals in a rockslide, which was the day before we went.) We hiked up with flashlights in the pitch dark, until we got all the way to the peak! Most of the group stopped at a hut, but about 6 of us from the group went all the way to the peak and it was super slippery but totally worth it to stand on the top! It was still about 5am so it was dark and cloudy and cold, but we had such a high from hiking that it didn't matter. We went back down a little, though to see the sunrise, which was still pretty cloudy.

Once the sun came up, we went back down the volcano, stopping along the way to see an amazing crater and a steam hole. We went to take a picture in front of the sign on the mountain, and I though someone had pushed me a little, but once I put my hand on my head, then a little tiny hand grabbed mine!! Then I realized it was a monkey on top of me and panicked, which you can see in the pictures below as everyone else realized it and starts to move away! Turns out the monkeys on the mountain were super chill though and we just chilled out on my shoulder until the guide advised me to bend down and he hopped off! It was one of my favorite parts of the trip after I realized it wasn't about to rip my hair off! After that we went to a hot springs sight and swam for awhile which had some crazy views. Then they took us to a coffee plantation (which I'm going to make a separate post for), which was one of my favorite places!

The next day we hired a man to drive us around to different temples. One was on the coast called Tanah Lot and the other called Uluwatu temple. At the Uluwatu temple we watch the Kecak dance at sunset, which is the people dressed up in costume towards the bottom. We ended the trip with a candlelight dinner on the beach, which was a perfect close to a pretty crazy weekend!
