My first trip since coming to Singapore was to this small island right off the shore of Singapore, called Pulau Ubin! It is full of trails all over the island that tourists and locals can either walk or bike! We chose to bike...except for on the hundreds of giant hills that tried to kill me.
Here is the small boat that we took to get to the island! There is a cluster of these boats that give rides to the island all day for only $3 SGD!
Next we spent some time trying to bargain with the locals for the best price for bikes for our group! To our dismay, they weren't willing to go down very much from their asking price, but it was worth it in the end because it was such an amazing trip. Plus walking would have taken forever!
After awhile we came up to a spot to park our bikes and go on a few walking trails. The second we started parking, this monkey ran up and ripped the water bottle off of my friend's bike! He didn't see the monkey coming though, so it was hilarious when he freaked out after he looked down and saw the furry little thief trying to open his water bottle!!
Here we found a cute little house that had a ton of facts about things you could find on the island!
Then here is an even prettier view of the same house from out on the docks! I can't get over how green and beautiful it is here in Singapore, and especially this island!
There were docks along the shore of the island to walk along and view the island!
Here you can see the roots of these trees that grow sporadically through the sand! The trees are actually protecting the island from erosion from the tides with their crazy roots!
At first glance it may looks like a bunch of mud, but in the middle you can see a big crab with red clippers! The holes you can see in the mud around him are home to hundreds of other crabs as well!
Here is a view of the island from 15 stories up! (and trust me there was no elevator to this view) The view of green and exotic trees consumed you from every direction!
Here you can see Pumba, our wild boar that we found! We also go to see a baby boar, but decided to keep moving before mama boar tried to kill us :) Hakuna Matata!
You could say this beautiful island left a pretty big smile on my face!
